Our house in Oregon on Meadow Ridge Court. It was brand new construction and 5423 sq ft…we were the first owners. The house sat on a golf course with beautiful views of Mt. Hood and the forest.
Our house in Arizona on Cavalry Drive. The house sat on a golf course. Sally designed all of the landscaping, including the pool and spa which had laser lights with rotating colors. The pool and landscaping were still in progress when the photos were taken.

The start of a 3-year adventure
From the Oregon house, we began a special 3-year adventure traveling in Europe. We started from Portland, Oregon by train across the U.S. to Albany, New York (the red route on the map) and from there 2 trips to Europe and back again.

The Queen Mary: Heading to Europe
From Albany, we went to Manhattan for a few days waiting for our departure to Europe aboard Cunard’s ocean liner the Queen Mary 2; destination Southampton, England.
Cunard’s liner, the Queen Elizabeth, was accompanying us part way on its final voyage. There was a huge fanfare with fireboats, gunboats and helicopters escorting us out of the harbor in New York.
We made 3 crossings on the the Queen Mary, making 2 trips to Europe and back, where we spent 3 years total traveling in France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Andorra and England. We always enjoyed France the most.
Our final trip home was made on a French freighter with just 1 other passenger. That story comes later…

Sally enjoys her artwork, as well. Although she received her degree in mathematics, Sally also studied computer science and art in college, where she won an award for some of her work in photography.
